This 2" or 3" thick mattress is fixed into place, stays level and recovers to its original shape after cow movement. Ulti-Mat™ can be installed in both free-stall and tie-stall barns. Once the stall framework is in place and fastened to the floor, mattresses are laid down. To create a seamless construction, a top cover is wrapped around, enclosing the mattress and frame, and is then firmly locked into place. Choose a woven, water-proof top cover or a non-woven, water-resistant cover treated to kill bacteria. The textured rubber of the woven cover helps keep the bedding in place and is non-skid even when wet. The fabric is treated throughout. Hot wax, rolled onto the surface, prevents moisture from penetrating the mattress cover. The inert properties of Ulti-Mat™ will not promote fungus or bacterial growth. For extra sanitation, use of a top surface bedding material is recommended. Mattress pads are guaranteed providing the top cover is well maintained and free of holes. Covers can be replaced if a hole develops. Ulti-Mat™ is made from recycled tire rubber that is shredded and passed through a powerful magnet to eliminate any metal. A pliable, water and acid resistant polyurethane adhesive is added and the mattress is molded under pressure to make it virtually indestructible. Clean the surface. 2. Assembly begins in the rear left corner with mat 1 as shown on the layout. 3. Attach mats 2, 3, etc. by aligning each slot with each tab, press gently, then finish by stamping with your foot. 4. If the enclosure or stall is not square you may need to trim the kit to fit. Trimming is easily done with a non-retractable utility knife, a chalk line and a metal straight edge. Installation on Dirt or Crushed Gravel 1. Compact the surface (6" of crushed gravel is recommended). 2. Level the surface. 3. Proceed as above. Interlocking kits fit 10'x10' or 12'x12' stalls and enclosures, however your finished floor will be slightly smaller to allow for expansion and contraction of the rubber due to variations in temperature.
